Question

I said no to disaster related withdrawal from IRA but the system will not let me file my taxes as it wants me to complete the form?

I suggest reviewing all of your input again.  There could be follow up question that is still marked as yes that hasn't been updated yet.

 

If that does not help resolve the issue, you can also delete the input for your 1099-R forms, and then re-enter them.

 

To delete your 1099-R, simply log back into your TurboTax program.

  1. Select the Income & Expenses section.
  2. Scroll down to the section titled IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R), and select edit.
  3. On the screen titled "Review your 1099-R info," select the trash can icon to the right of any 1099-R forms listed.  This will remove the input from your return.
  4. Once you have deleted the forms, go ahead and add them back in using the +Add another 1099-R.  
  5. Select continue and answer the questions carefully to ensure they are not marked erroneously as a disaster distribution.
