I thought my wife contributed $6,500 to her 2023 Roth IRA, but when I check her docs this year it appears it went towards her 2024 contributions. what can i do?

You needn't worry, Roth IRA contributions don't matter on a tax return.

TurboTax asks in order to assure that you did not over contribute, and to keep a total for future calculations.

If you want TurboTax to have the correct numbers, you can go back into your 2023 TurboTax account and change the numbers, but it isn't necessary for tax purposes.

HERE is a link that talks more about why TurboTax asks about Roth contributions.

In order to change the numbers being carried from the 2023 return, open that return and select "Add a state" to re-open it.
