I took money out of my 401K plan to pay for hospital bills, I took enough to pay the federal tax, where do i enter this?

You should receive form 1099-R showing your 401K withdrawal, distribution type and your amount withheld -  and it should be reported as such on your tax return. Please be sure to enter the form into TurboTax exactly as it appears and answer follow up questions.  Please follow steps below for data entry:

  1. Federal Taxes
  2. Wages and Income
  3. Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
  4. Select IRA, 401(k), Pension Plans (1099-R)
