Question

I travel for work and did a retirement withdrawal, my state tax return lowered because of it. Do I have to claim it on my state taxes?

You have to enter a 1099R for a retirement account distribution on your federal return.   Information flows from your federal return to the state return.  The software will use the tax laws of your state to calculate your refund or tax due.  Some states tax retirement income.   And it is unclear what traveling for work had to do with taking money from a retirement account--please explain.
