Question

I was covered by an HDHP plan for five months in 2019 until I turned 65 (in June). Why is Turbotax calculating my maximum contribution limit as $0?

I don't have enough information to answer your question. Please reply by indicating:

  • What was your HDHP coverage from January through May or June?
  • When did you begin Medicare coverage (it is not your age that affect HDHP coverage, but whether or not you are on Medicare or have other coverage?
  • Are you married? What coverage does your spouse have?
  • Where did TurboTax tell you that your contribution limit was $0? On form 8889? In the interview? If so, on which screen (give the heading)?
  • Did you have any other health insurance coverage (PPO, FSA, HRA, etc.)?

Thanks. There are usually simple explanations, but they require more information.
