Question

I was issued a revised 1099-DIV for 2017. The original 1099-DIV had money listed in Box 1A and 1B. The new, revised document has money in Box 3. What do I need to do?

You should prepare an Amendment for your 2017 Tax Return. You can click here for instructions on Amending your tax return: How to Change a Tax Return You Already Filed.

Depending on the numbers reported in Box 1A and 1B on your original Form 1099-DIV, you will most likely be due a refund when you Amend since money reported in Box 3 is nontaxable.
