Question

I was just about to send -I owe Federal about 2000 dollars but it had 4 vouchers with 4 different dates over the coming year I thought I was paying one lump sum ???

    Hold on......those 1040ES vouchers are not for paying your 2024 federal tax due.   Those are for paying estimated quarterly payments for 2025.   When you expect to owe at least $1000 to the IRS for the next year, it is a good idea to make estimated payments during the year to prevent a huge tax bill and/or underpayment penalty at tax time.   They are optional.

     

    But your 2024 tax due from line 37 of your 2024 return is due by April 15, 2025.

     

     

    If you owe tax due, you have to pay it yourself by the filing deadline on April 15, 2025.

     

     

     If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, (which has the address printed on it, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.
