I worked until March 29, 2024 as a RN, then I retired. So what do I mark on the return? Working or retired?

You will put retired. It is your status as of completing the tax return.

Do you mean for "occupation?" You can use either one. The IRS only uses occupation for statistical purposes ----it has no effect on your refund or tax due.
