Question

If I already paid medicare and social security taxes for our household employee through quickbooks, how come I don't see anywhere to enter that here in TurboTax?

In TurboTax, it's increased our federal tax liability by an amount that's similar to what we paid in federal taxes already, so it looks like we'd pay double--am I understanding this correctly?

That is entered under "Other Tax Situations"

Scroll down to "Additional Tax Payments"

Scroll down to "Nanny and household employee tax"

Schedule H may not be ready for filing until March 17th.

So I went through the household and nanny tax section and entered all the information I could, but there wasn't anywhere I could enter in the medicare and social security taxes we've already paid. where can we do this?

The above instructions apply to Schedule H. By filing in this manner, you calculate and pay your taxes along with your other tax liabilities.

To record the estimated tax payments paid quarterly follow these steps (include with any other estimated tax payment).

  1. In the top right select My Account
  2. Select Tools
  3. Select Topic Search (image attached)
  4. Search for estimated tax  and select GO
  5. Enter your tax payments for federal and state
