if my dad died and my mom has survivor benefits thru us do I say that i had survivor benefits or not?

    You do not claim that you had survivor benefits if they are received only by your mother. Survivor benefits are reported only by the person who directly receives them.

     

    If your mom receives survivor benefits, it doesn't mean you do. Check your records, ask your mom, or contact the SSA to confirm.
