Question

If we claim a parent on our taxes, does that mean we are responsible for their debt? Especially when they die?

No.  Claiming someone as a dependent on your tax return does not make you responsible for that person's debts.

What happens to a person's debts after their death is a legal question, and you can discuss that with a local attorney.  This is an income tax forum and not intended to answer legal questions.
