If we paid for my fathers funeral after we pulled out retirement is this a valid reason?

So sorry for your loss, but no, using retirement account funds for a funeral is not an exception to an early withdrawal penalty or for being subject to ordinary income tax on the withdrawal.

Enter your 1099R on your tax return.

 

To enter your retirement income, Go to  Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA  401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.
