I receive a retirement income from NC but do not live there and have no earned income from there. Do I have any taxable income from NC that I need to file in NC for any income tax?

No, you do not need to file a North Carolina tax return.  Retirement income is not taxable by the state where that income is coming from.  It is only taxable by the state(s) where you reside.
