Is a 1099-R considered "taxable income" when determining if I claim a parent as a dependent?

My Mother received a 1099-R for over 6K. Does this disqualify me from claiming her a dependent on my taxes?

Yes, it is.  If the form 1099-R shows the taxable amount over $4050,  you do not pass the Gross Income requirements for claiming your parent, unfortunately.  According to IRS, Gross income is all income you receive in the form of money, goods, property, and services that isn't exempt from tax.

The form will say how much is taxable.  If over $4050 you cannot claim her.
