Is it necessary to report a 1099-R form on a State Return? Asking from Ohio.

I forgot to add the form to my federal return, so I'm filing an amendment. I have the choice to amend my state return as well, but I'm unsure if it's necessary for my state and I'd rather not if I don't need to.

Yes, the Ohio (OH) return begins with the federal adjusted gross income (AGI) which means any time the federal is amended the OH must be amended.

Generally, retirement income included in federal adjusted gross income is subject to Ohio income tax. Ohio then provides a credit based on the taxpayer's retirement income. However, some types of retirement income are deductible in determining Ohio adjusted gross income, and thus are not subject to tax.
