A federal tax refund is not reported on nor is it taxable on a federal tax return.

Iowa taxes federal refunds so if you are in Iowa you will have to enter the federal refund you received.   There might be a few other states that tax federal refunds--I am not sure----but if your state taxes it you will be asked when you prepare your state return.   Your federal refund is not taxable on your federal tax return.
