Question

Is social security benefits that are non-taxable be added as additional income?

Nothing changed from last year but they added my income with my husbands non-taxable social security as combined income.  I think I must of made a mistake because it said I owe over 600 this year.  How do I get back into my return?

Social Security can be taxable.

Up to 85% of Social Security becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security, reaches:
Married Filing Jointly: $32,000
Single or head of household: $25,000
Married Filing Separately: 0
