Is the amount to be listed for RMD the same amount in Box 1(gross distribution) of my 1099-R?

You can check with your financial institution what your RMD amount was. Form 1099-R only shows the distribution.

If you know you met your RMD for 2024 then you can answer in the interview all of the distribution shown in box 1 was an RMD. TurboTax is only asking this to check if you met your RMD to see if you need to file Form 5329 and to check if you can rollover any of the funds. Note you cannot rollover RMDs.

But if it from a pension...where you get a fixed amount every month...that you have no control over?

.............then the RMD is just the box 1 $$ amount.
