Yes, Taxpayer Identification Number or Employer Identification Number can be used for the 1099 payor.

What type of 1099?  You may be entering it in the wrong place.

PLEASE HELP, IS THE EIN THE SAME AS TIN?   THEY SAID MY FILE WAS REJECTED BECAUSE EIN NUMBERS WERE WRONG.  3 OF THEM ARE CORRECT, BUT THEY SAY THEY ARE NOT. ONE NUMBER NEEDS  TO BE FIXED, HOW DO I FIX IT AND REFILE?  THIS IS SO CONFUNSING, WHEN TRYING TO FIX AND RESUBMIT, PLEASE HELP ME ASAP.   THIS IS TOO CONFUSING.

"IS THE EIN THE SAME AS TIN?" - yes, except that an EIN always refers to an employer, where a TIN is a generic taxpayer identification number where the "taxpayer" can also be a corporation or a partnership.
