My 68 year old mother lives with me and only receives social security. I paid more than half of the living expenses can i claim her on my tax return?

Yes, if all of the below apply you can claim your mother as a dependent on your tax return.  

  •  You are providing 51% or more of your mothers' support
  •  She is a US Citizen, US National, US Resident Alien or a Resident of Canada or Mexico and
  • Her earned income is less than $4,050 (not counting non-taxable income such as social security)
