My dependent daughter got her first job in June 2017. She made about 5,000. She does get survivor benefits from social security Does she need to file a tax return

It depends.  Outlined below are the minimum income filing requirements for federal income taxes.  Even if she is below the minimum, she may want to file to see if she is due a refund on any taxes that were withheld from her paychecks.  If she does file, she will need to be sure to mark on her return (in the My Info section of TurboTax), that she is claimed as a dependent on someone else's return.
