My husband puts into a Roth account thru his employers 401k account. He pays taxes on it, can he deduct that on taxes?

No.  You only enter it from the W2 nowhere else.  And any kind of ROTH is not deductible at all. That’s the point of the the Roth.  You pay taxes on it now then when you take it out in the future it is tax free including the growth.
