Question

My income for 2024 was 32924.00 from Social Security and my interest income for 2024 was 36.00. Why does my return say my total income was 36.00? Is this an error?

That’s right.  Your Social Security is not taxable.  And you don’t have to file a return at all for only $36 interest.

Up to 85% of Social Security becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security, reaches:

Married Filing Jointly: $32,000

Single or head of household: $25,000

Married Filing Separately: 0
