My online return is asking for a response for box 12A on my 1099G form but there is no box 12 on my form. What should I do?

If you meant to type box 10 and 10a instead of box 12 and 12a, then the answer to your question depends on whether you had any state taxes withheld from your unemployment.  If there is a number reported for state taxes withheld, then you cannot skip boxes 10a, 10b, or 11. 

(If you are trying to enter information for box 12, please add information about what type of 1099-G you are entering.)

If you had state taxes withheld from your unemployment, but there is not a state ID number on your form, then use the Federal ID number in box 10b.

If you did not have any state taxes withheld, then leave all the boxes blank (boxes 10a, 10b, and 11).  This includes the dropdown box for the state name.

If anything is entered in box 10a, 10b, or 11, then all of them must be filled in to avoid an error condition causing you to review the entry.
