Question

My wife's retirement is being taxed by the state of PA and it was not taxed in 2018. Why?

Typically retirement income is not taxed in the State of Pennsylvania.  You may want to review your data that you entered for Pennsylvania.  Here's how:

  1. While you are in your Tax Home,
  2. Select State,
  3. Select Edit next to the State of Pennsylvania,
  4. Follow through the on-screen prompts,
  5. When you get to this screen, make a selection from the drop down menu:
  6. When you get to the next screen, make a selection from the drop down menu.

Correcting these two screens should fix your wife's retirement income in your State of Pennsylvania return.
