I need the exact steps to enter non-covered stock sale cost basis. I have received my 1099 b and it shares the accurate proceeds and I have my cost ready to enter. My box E is empty. and there doesn't appear to be a box to check to reflect that. If I click "adjust" and enter my cost, it adds it to my proceeds.  I

??    If you can enter the proceeds, the entry for cost  should be right next to it.

My 1099B costs are old cost.  The stock was moved to a different brokerage company way back.  Not by my choice.  The cost is blank.  I know the cost but am not able to find how to enter it.  According to directions you can only put what is on your 1099B.  I have valuable cost basis that need to be reported to help bring down the proceed gains.  Thanks

    IRS says:

For non-covered securities ( BOX B or E) showing zero (wrong) basis, enter the correct basis yourself.
Use code "B" and put -0- in col (g).

TurboTax supports this rule last time I tried it.
