What if I don’t have marketplace health insurance do federal and state penalize me in my tax  return filing?

There is no requirement to report having health insurance on your federal tax return.  Your state may have different requirements.

If you did not have state Marketplace Exchange health insurance, then where asked if you received a Form 1095-A your answer should be NO.

No, there's no federal penalty for not having health insurance. Some states do still have the penalty, so you may see it on your state return only.

No, there is no penalty for not having marketplace health insurance.  If you do not have that kind of health insurance you just say NO to the question about it and move on.

There is no federal penalty at all for not having health insurance.  There are several states in which not having any kind of health insurance at all can cause you to owe a penalty.   These are CA, DC, MA, NJ and RI
