On 1099-R, Turbo Tax says box 9a has to have $0.01 or more but the form has no value?

The software will not let me complete the 1099-R entry with no entry for box 9a but the form I received has nothing in that box.

if you do not have information related to box 9a or 9b on your Form 1099-R, then just make sure to leave this information blank (no amount and no $0) and this should get rid of the error and allow you to efile.

 

If you are still getting an error message, then delete the Form 1099-R and re-enter the information without putting any $0 amounts in boxes that are meant to be blank.
