Question

ON Form 1099-Q, in information on Form 1099-Q, the Box 6 is show an X, but there is no explanation of what that means. There is no Distribution Code X allowed.

    Box 6 on Form 1099-Q checked, it means that the recipient isn't the designated beneficiary under a Qualified Tuition Program (QTP), or a Coverdell ESA. 

     

    Go to Form 1099-Q in the program, enter your information. For Box 6, the X on your form means that you need to mark the box next to Recipient is not Designated Beneficiary.   For reference, see the image below:
