On some page they ask what your ira balance is. where is that?

If you have entered a Form 1099-R reporting a distribution from a Traditional IRA, be sure that you checked the IRA/SEP/Simple box when you entered your Form 1099-R showing the distribution. Then, as you go through the follow-up questions, you should see the question regarding the total value of all of your Traditional IRAs. That information is needed to calculate the taxable portion of your distribution.
