If its on Line 71 then it is included as part of your refund. Your refund is larger by that amount on Line 71, than it would have been without that SS excess.

How did you overpay?  Do you have multiple employers ?

If you had multiple employers and ended up paying in too much SS, the software should automatically make that amount you overpaid refundable to you.   I'm not following what you mean about it being a deduction.

Over payment was $3005 turbo tax just added  that amount to my non taxable deductions. Took $3005 off my taxabl income.

While youre logged into the return, click My Account > Tools > Tax Summary, then above the Summary, you should see a link to Preview MY 1040.  Look at page 2 of the 1040, does the excess SS show up on Line 71?

Thanks for help
