Question

Regarding the IRA tax change in Alabama, where do I enter the following: Alabama exempts the first $6,000 of taxable retirement income for those 65 years of age or older?

TurboTax should automatically deduct $6,000 from your federal income to determine your Alabama taxable income, if you are over 65 and withdrew the funds from an IRA or 401(k).

Thanks for responding. It did. It's just a little unsettling when there is nothing specific to check as there is with the pension characterization as 'defined benefit plan.'
