Required minimum distribution 401k) over 73 yrs still working. how do I get this distribution started

Went on line and can not get this going through them

No, if you are still employed with the company that sponsors the 401(K) plan you don't have to take a required minimum distribution (RMD)  until after you are retired from that company.

 

If the 401(K) is from a different employer, you need to start taking your RMD by April 1 of the year following the year you turn 73. 

 

As far as arranging for your RMD, you have to contact the plan for that. Usually they are very pro-active and will send you messages about it until you start automatic withdrawals.
