Retiree Medical Premiums Taxable?

Employee paid portion of retiree medical premiums and sent me 1099-NEC. Is this considered taxable income? How report in turbotax?

    Do you mean that your former employER paid a portion of your medical insurance premiums? If so, then yes, it's taxable income. Report it as other income. To enter the 1099-NEC as other income in TurboTax, type 1099-nec in the Search box, then click the link that says "Jump to 1099-nec." After you enter the information from the 1099-NEC, you will come to a screen that asks "Does one of these uncommon situations apply?" Select "This is not money earned as an employee or self-employed individual, it is from a sporadic activity or hobby." (I know that's not exactly what it is, but that option will put it in the right place on your tax return.) The income will be reported as other income on Schedule 1 line 8z.

    Yes, that is taxable income, Follow these steps to enter Form 1099-NEC:

     

    1. Open TurboTax.
    2. Go to FederalWages & Income.
    3. Scroll down to "Other Common Income."
    4. Select Form-1099-NEC, select Start or Revisit.

     

     

     

      5. "1099-Nec Summary" > Add Another 1099-NEC..

     

     

       6.  The next screen, "Let's get the info from your 1099-NEC."

     

     

      7.  Continue.

       8.  Add the reason for this 1099-NEC.

     

     

     

      9.  Continue.

     10. On the screen, " Does one of these uncommon situation apply," select > This is not money earned as an employee or self-employed               individual …"

     

      11. Continue > Done.
