RMD on an inherited annuity

I received a 1099-R for an annuity my mother had that I inherited when she passed away.  Turbo tax is asking me if the RMD was made in 2024.  I really have no idea.  I just know I received the money and paid the income tax on it.  The live help said I should report the entire amount I received as RMD, but they could not really answer why I put the whole amount.  I don't understand RMD because I'm too young to take distributions from IRAs.   So do I contact the plan administrator to find out if she took a RMD prior to her death or do I say the entire amount I received was the RMD?

The Plan Administrator is responsible for distributing the RMD (if one is required), so you can indicate that 'part of all of this distribution is RMD' and enter an amount that is equal to or less than the distribution amount.  Neither the IRS or TurboTax knows what your RMD should be.

You could reach out to the plan administrator to verify this.
