rmd withdrawal reporting on turbo tax confusing

I have my first RMD which is 15000 and I only took 10000 in 2024 will take remainder by 4/1/2025 as required.

How do I report this in turbo tax? It asks what the rmd amount for 2024 is and if I put the entire amount it charges me taxes on that when there is nothing due since it will be taken in 2025.

How do I put this on turbo tax that all the rmd was taken 10000?

You would make the withdrawal, and post the initial $10,000 RMD to your 2024 tax return

Post the remaining portion of the RMD on your 2025 taxes.

You will have to also take an additional full RMD in 2025.

i have no idea what you are saying.. i took some in 2024 so it is on 2024 tax return the rest will be in 2025 .

turbo tax is asking for full amount which i did not take yet. so do i put just what i did take in 2024 as full rmd?

do you mean put a sub 1099 r in 2025 ?

don't do that, name the amount you did take so far.

That's always been what you do with TurboTax when you are using the April 1 extension for the first RMD.

Yes, you will select that all your your $10,000 distribution was RMD for 2024 and when TurboTax asks if you took all your RMD for 2024 you answer with "Yes" .
