Better to receive RMDs as income or roll over into another investment (Roth IRAs)?

Hi @JMB67! This is a great question. To be clear, and my answer may not be welcome, if you are required to take a minimum distribution from an IRA or another eligible retirement plan (an RMD), the RMD cannot be rolled over to another IRA or converted to a Roth IRA. Sorry to be the bearer of unwelcome news.

If you are interested and can afford to do so, you may be able to avoid tax on the RMD by making a qualified charitable distribution as described in this IRS guidance.
