Should I claim I was a full time student even thought I was not a full time student but I don't wish to get the retirement savings contribution

If you were not a Full-Time student then, no, you will not say you were a FT student.

 

Did you make a retirement savings contribution?  Unless you made a contribution you would not enter anything in that section.

Check with your collogues.... the software forces the user to take the Retirment Saving Contribution credit if they have any $$ contributed to some retirement account, like a 401k noted on a W-2....sometimes for a pitiful few $$....then they are forced to upgrade to Deluxe...and have to pay more for Fed + State than the RSCC gives them.

 

We in the Forum, have been telling users to indicate they are a full time student (during the RSCC interview) for many years no...to eliminate that forced upgrade whenever the Credit is lower than the cost of the Software upgrade...like ~$80+in this case.
