Should I eliminate the forward slash in MN State/Payer state number (as listed on the 1099-R I received) in the MN MW1 page, or change it back on the Federal list first?

Fix it by Editing it in the 1099-R form area in the Federal section. That data automatically transfers to the State section.

While you are at it, check EVERYTHING on the main 1099-R form....especially if you uploaded a picture of your 1099-R...that method can end up with tons of errors (I will refuse to use it for a couple more years...too many disasters with fouled up A.I. interpretations)
