Should I list myself as RETIRED or as a COMTECH? I retired 08/05/2023, 7 months 5 days into 2023.

The IRS only uses "occupation" for statistics-- it has no effect at all on your tax due or refund.  Use whatever you prefer now for occupation.

You can use either occupation as you wish.  The occupation field is only used for statistical purposes.

Go for the one that matches your earnings from a W-2. Then retired for next season.
