Should I mark my 1099-R retirement distribution amount as excludable for Massachusetts or not?

The amount is classified in Box 7 as code 2. I received the amount in a check after switching employers.

No, you should not mark the distribution as excludable for Massachusetts.  Based on the information in your question, your distribution was from a 401(k) plan and is fully taxable by Massachusetts.
