Yes, Social Security can be listed as income and you should enter your SSA- 1099 on your tax return.  Depending on your situation, up to 85% of your social security benefits can be taxable income. If you look at line 20a and 20b on your 1040 or 14 a & b on your 1040A, you will see how much of your benefits are taxable.
