Social Security benefits plus Medicare deduction total of $2,047 a month. Do I still have to file for income tax return?

    If social security benefits are your only income, then you are not required to file a tax return.

    If Social Security is your only income, you are not required to file a tax return.   If you have any other income like a pension, investment income, etc etc. you might need to file.
