Question

Social Security provides a 1099 not a 1099-R. Should this income be reported in another category?

Social Security is not an employer and does not have a Payers TIN. Where should this income be reported?

Social Security is reported on a form SSA-1099, which is different from a 1099-R.

Since it is its own form, certain data items are not needed, like who the Payer is.

Go to Wages & Income->Retirement Plans and Social Security->Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099) and click Start or Revisit.
