Spousal Death Impacting IRA Worksheet (false error message; can't complete tax filing)

My wife passed away in 2019, so I filed that tax year as joint filing.  There were IRA conversations for both of us that populated the IRA worksheet . . . no problem.

This year, I am filing as a Qualified Widower.  The error tracker is taking me to the IRA worksheet (lines 31 and 32) for 2019 Conversion Contributions where I have entries from last year (2019).  It is giving me an error and directing me to the "Spouse" column for contributions.

"IRA Information Worksheet:  Line 31 (and 32) - Spouse 2019, should not have a value.  Your filing status is not married filing jointly".

I guess it does not know my filing status from last year, but it will not let me complete and e-file with this "error" outstanding.  Any suggestions?  I am out of ideas.

Thank you for your help and consideration.  Jason

I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

There are two worksheets associated with the IRA's, an IRA contribution worksheet and a an IRA information worksheet. If you have a contribution worksheet in your program and delete it, then you may be able to delete the IRA information worksheet and that should resolve your issue. You may just have the information worksheet, and if so you may be able to delete it.

Here's the steps necessary to delete a form or schedule in TurboTax online:

    1. Tax tools (on the left menu bar)
    2. Tools
    3. Delete a form

Find the worksheets (IRA Contrib Wks and/or IRA info Wks) in the list and delete the worksheets. You have to do the contribution worksheet first if there is one.
