If this was for a Qualified 2024 Disaster Distribution then this is ready in TurboTax.

Please make sure your software is updated if you use TurboTax Desktop.

  1. Click "Federal Taxes" on the top and select "Wages & Income"
  2. Click "I'll choose what to work on"
  3. Scroll down and click "Start" next to "IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan (1099-R)
  4. Add your Form 1099-R
  5. Continue through the screens until the " Was this a withdrawal due to a 2023 or 2024 Qualified Disaster?" and select what applies
  6. TurboTax will walk you through the entries.

If you use TurboTax Online and do not get the disaster distribution questions then please delete the Form 1099-R, then delete cookies and clear you cache before reentering Form 1099-R.

  1. Login to your TurboTax Account
  2. Click on the "Search" on the top and type “1099-R”
  3. Click on “Jump to 1099-R”
  4. Enter Form 1099-R information
  5. On the "Do any of these situations apply to you?" screen select "I took out this money due to a qualified disaster"
  6. Continue until the " Was this a withdrawal due to a 2023 or 2024 Qualified Disaster?" and select what applies
  7. TurboTax will walk you through the entries.
