It won't let me file my return although I clicked "no" on the disaster question and went to forms to delete 8915.

Can you please try the steps provided below to see if that resolves your issue:

  • Log completely out of your TurboTax account
  • Clear cache and delete cookies
  • Then log back in and see if you are still having the same issue

You can also try using a different web browser.  If this does not work, please respond back here and let us know.

This didn’t work for me using Home & Business CD, but thanks anyway.

In TurboTax CD/Download Home and Business, are you able to remove the form by:

  • Click on Forms in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
  • Select the form 8615 and click Delete form at the bottom of the page.

However, if the form re-generates, that means that there is an entry in the software that needs to be removed or changed.

If this is the case, return back to the point in the software where the questions that populate the form are asked.

  • Across the top of the screen, select  Personal.
  • Across the top of the screen, select Personal Income.
  • Select I'll choose what I work on.
  • Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security.
  • Select Start / Update to the right of IRA 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals.
  • At the screen Did you receive any 1099-R forms, select No.  Click Continue.
  • At the screen Did you take a disaster distribution at any time between 2018 and 2020? answer Yes.
  • At the screen Did you take a 2020 Qualified Disaster Distribution, remove all of the entry information.

Run the Review again to see if the error has cleared.

I went to Forms at the top of my screen and it asked me if I wanted to remove form 8915 and I said yes, but that didn't clear it out.  Then I read something about a related worksheet for form 8915, went back to forms and had the option of deleting that worksheet also.  After that I was able to e-file my taxes.

I just wasted an hour trying to remove it. I'm surprised that errors like this exist, given the ever-increasing price of the product, and yet there is no live support for the product. I'm going to file and let TurboTax deal with the fallout.
