Question

The Social Securiy Benefits Worksheet only shows total social security received and the taxable benefits. Is anyone else not seeing any calculations on this form?

How can I be sure that turbo tax is completing my return properly if the Social Securiyy Benefits Worksheet provides no calculation details?

    TurboTax uses the IRS formula in calculating the taxable portion of your Social Security benefits.

     

    Please read this IRS FAQ for more information.

     

    Also, the IRS has a worksheet on page 16 of this IRS publication, which allows you to manually calculate the taxable portion of your Social Security benefits.

     

    You can use this worksheet to verify the calculation.
