    Perhaps you are subject to other taxes such as self-employment tax or the extra tax on early retirement distributions.  These other taxes would be included in your overall tax liability.

     

    The income tax would be shown on Form 1040 line 16.  Your total tax liability would be on line 24 after the subtraction of any tax credits and the addition of other taxes.
