Turbo Tax for 2024 is calculating on Line 6b that only 56% on our joint total Social Security benefits are taxable when it appears that it should be taxed at 85%.  Our other income + 1/2 of the social security income > $32,000.

No, the amount is Up To 85% not a flat 85%.  Look at the Social Security Benefits worksheet for your tax return.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.  Then click on Print Center.  Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.  Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets

Up to 85% of Social Security Retirement/Disability/Survivors benefits becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security reaches:

    Married Filing Jointly - $32,000
Single or Head of Household - $25,000
    Married Filing Separately - 0
